The Intermountain Cup is a tournament that determines which of the game stores in Utah and Idaho has the best gamer's. It is being held at my local game store this year so I put my name on the alternates list. This will be my first 50 points tournament so there will be a flurry of activity this week since I need to finish assembling my Judicator to make it up to 50 points.

February Challenge Model
The awesome guys over at Dragonpainting.net have an awesome challenge system. The challenge rules change every month and are designed to make painter's think about and stretch their skills. All the painter's post their WIP photos and the community is able to give suggestions and feedback during the whole process. This makes for some fun changes mid-model.
More pics after the break!

Judicator Base WIP
As I've stated before, the Judicator deserves more than just a piece of plastic to stride to war on. After the break you can see the evolution of the base so far.

Basing work
I have seen a lot of awesome figs recently that have been made better by their bases. So i am concentrating a little more on the bases for my figs than i have in the past.
As a test base to be able to use all of the new techniques and materials i have picked up i decided to do a wreck marker for my Warmachine army. Technically it's a base and it isn't supposed to look pretty so i figured i couldn't screw it up too much. Here is what i came out with.
I used some old citadel basing bits i had laying around, sprue bits, pieces of the middle of the base that I cut out, some crystals i made myself, and a new textured paste that i picked up at a local art shop for sand and snow effects. All in all not a horrible wreck marker.
I've also been working on putting together the colossal for my Protectorate army. I decided a model that big and obviously going to be a centerpiece whether you want it to be or not deserves more than a plain round base with some flock. So I've started my biggest (in every sense of the word) basing project to date.

Weekly/Monthly WIPs
It has been a while since I have posted. But luckily I have a pretty good reason, she is pictured below.
My first child, and boy is she beautiful!!
So now that you all know my excuse back to the painting!! I managed to finish up the contest fig from the last post about 2 hours before we went to the hospital to have the baby.

I'm now at a loss as to what i want to paint next... any suggestions?
I've added a poll to the sidebar, but if you have specific suggestions just use the comments below.

Weekly WIPs
Since I was chastised for not posting I am now going to try to post at least once a week. That does mean that I will have to paint at least that often as well. Hopefully that will not be too much to ask.
First up we have a fig I have been "working" since October started for a painting competition. For this contest if you finish the fig you have a chance of winning so there is no reason for me not to try right?

I only have the base colors on this model so far. I'm going to try to make the rifle with very dark very matte metallic colors since snipers don't generally like anything shiny to give them away.
Any suggestions on how to finish the base? Or what color to do the fur trim?

Finished First Warjack!!
It is amazing how much of a difference a small addition can make to a model. I thought I was pretty much done when I posted my Crusader earlier in the summer. The I made the small addition below and the whole feel of the model changed.
